around Mallorca
Here's some more info we put together for you to explore the rest of the island while you're here!
Get to know Mallorca
Everywhere on this island is stunning. We couldn't stop saying it.
It's so much bigger and more varied than you'd expect. There's a real city with a huge cathedral, stone villages up in the mountains, coves with the bluest water, and olive groves everywhere in between. Just driving around is half the fun.
These are the spots we loved, plus a few friends swore by. If you can, plan time to see the rest of the island before or after the wedding weekend.
Where you'll land
Palma
Most of you will fly in here, and it's worth staying a night. It's so much more than the airport city.
The city
Palma
Golden stone everything, palm trees, and that cathedral right on the water. Wander the old town with no plan at all, pop into the little courtyards, then get drinks and dinner around La Llotja. It's beautiful at night.
Our tip: Flying in Thursday? Stay the night in Palma, have a slow breakfast, then drive up Friday.
First swim
Cala Comtessa + Illetes
Beautiful clear water only twenty minutes from the old town. Perfect for a first swim after you land.
The northwest
The mountain villages
This is the side of the island we fell in love with. Stone villages tucked into the Tramuntana mountains, olive trees everywhere, and roads that wind down to the sea.
Village
Valldemossa
Cobblestone streets, green shutters and flowers on every wall. Grab a coffee and a coca de patata, the soft, sweet potato bun the town is known for, and wander.
Our tip: Go early, before the tour buses show up.
Village
Deià
One of our favorites. Honey-colored houses stacked up the mountain with the sea below. Walk up to the little church for the view, swim at Cala Deià, then settle in for a long lunch.
Town
Sóller
A valley town full of orange trees. Take the old wooden train from Palma, have a coffee in the main square, then ride the tram down to the port.
Harbor
Port de Sóller
We stayed here when we came to see the venue and loved it. A horseshoe bay with mountains all around. Lunch by the water, a swim, and stay for sunset.
Village
Fornalutx
A tiny stone village where the streets are stone staircases. Come for a slow wander and lunch on a terrace.
If you only have one free day
Do this drive
Palma → Valldemossa → Deià → Sóller
Rent a car and leave early. Coffee in Valldemossa, a swim and lunch in Deià, then Sóller in the afternoon and sunset at the port.
Right around the wedding
Near the venue
The venue is in the quiet north, and some of the prettiest beaches and towns on the island are right here. You don't need to go far.
Five minutes away
Can Picafort + Son Bauló
The closest beaches are about five minutes from the venue. Can Picafort is a little beach town with cafés right on the sand. Just past it, Son Bauló is quieter, with soft sand and pine trees. Keep walking east along the Son Real coast for little rocky coves and an ancient seaside burial site.
Our tip: Explore here Saturday morning, or on Sunday after the wedding.
Beach
Playa de Muro
Miles of soft sand and shallow, crystal-clear water. Head for the Es Comú stretch, which is wild and backed by pine trees and dunes.
Our tip: Sunday recovery day. Towel, book, done.
Old town
Alcúdia
A walled medieval town full of charm. Walk along the old walls, wander the lanes and have lunch on a square. Tuesdays and Sundays are market days.
Our tip: Explore Saturday, before the wedding events start. Just be back in time to get ready!
Old town
Pollença
There are 365 steps lined with cypress trees leading up to a tiny chapel. Climb them, then have a coffee in the main square. Sunday is market day.
Our tip: A great Saturday morning before the wedding events start.
Seaside
Port de Pollença
A relaxed beach town with a pretty walk along the water and mountains all around the bay. Lunch by the sand, or hop on a boat.
Our tip: Pair it with Pollença on Saturday morning, then head back to get ready.
Coves
Cala Sant Vicenç
A few small coves with turquoise water and huge cliffs. It's more dramatic than Playa de Muro, and the snorkeling is great.
Cliffs
Cap de Formentor
The very tip of the island. Dramatic cliffs, winding roads and a lighthouse at the end. The drive alone is worth it.
Heads up: the road to the lighthouse sometimes closes to cars in busy season, so check before you go.
The southeast
The famous coves
If you've seen a photo of Mallorca, it was probably taken down here. About an hour from Palma.
Town
Santanyí
A golden-stone town with lovely shops, galleries and cafés. Go on market day (Wednesday or Saturday), grab a coffee, then head to the coves.
Coves
Cala Llombards + Caló des Moro
The Mallorca you've seen all over Pinterest. White cliffs and the bluest water.
Our tip: Go early! Caló des Moro is tiny and gets packed by mid-morning.
And a couple more ideas
A beach club, a boat and some wine
Beach club
Gran Folies
We're two people who never sit still, and we happily stayed here for seven hours one day. There's something magical about this beach club. Thatched umbrellas, a cove of clear water to swim in, and a long lunch overlooking it all. Perfect if you want a relaxing day.
Our tip: Book a lounger ahead, and plan to stay all afternoon.
On the water
Boat day
The island is best seen from the water. Split a boat with friends, find a cove you can't get to by car, jump in, and eat lunch on board.

Countryside
Wine day
Mallorca makes its own wine from grapes you can't get anywhere else. Book a tasting around Binissalem, then a long lunch out in the countryside.
Our tip: Pick a driver.
We can't wait to see you in Mallorca.
With love, Sarah + Liam
